MIAMI DIARY

Just a QUICK hello and to show a snapshot of the events that was Mercedes-Benz Fashion Swim Week. I promise as much as it looks like I was a social butterfly I did manage to make it to a bunch of shows and pool parties … I just didn’t take a ton of photo’s at the shows because my jaw was left hanging open lol. I was lucky enough to get back stage for the Mara Hoffman collection where Erika and I got to hang out with everyone while they got ready for the show. We showed up exactly at 6′oclock and were blessed  to be the only media in the make-up & hair studio for at least forty minutes! we just stood there taking it all in.

I promise those voyeuristic shots are coming …

UP UP UP IN THE CLOUDS

I found this skirt a few months ago at one of my most coveted vintage shops in Toronto – 69 Vintage. My girl Kealan owns the hot spot, and 90% of the things I buy from there are directly from her personal wardrobe – I am almost certain she no longer takes it personally when I walk away with her treasures lol, after all – she insists – this skirt however, was hanging waiting for me upon my arrival. It was days before Toronto fashion week and  this girl had not a thing to wear (ain’t that always the way though?). $40 – 1970′s – an ace.

The top, well – this was from my most recent Value Village take over – (read last post) – $5.99. I had never thought of green being electric – but apparently that shade of green does exist – for I now own an electric green button up.

Head on over to my eFriend Jentine’s blog My Edit – her last post is all about how to distinguish what to look for when thrifting – my goal is for her and I to one day smash ideas together to create a Thrift Bible. Thoughts?

LOVE MORE. WORRY LESS.

My last post of twenty eleven. Wow what a year it has been. Definitely a whirlwind and a blessing all in one, for I have had nothing but amazing opportunities given to me, and only strive for more come twenty twelve. I have had the words love more worry less on my mind for the past five or six months, I keep this saying as my background on my iphone as a constant reminder not to sweat the small things and to enjoy the little things that others seem to whisp by. Take a moment and breath in, and out – for you are so special, so spectacular and alive. Be sure to be grateful for just that. Goodbye twenty eleven, you were spectacular. Sending love to you and yours truly.

PARTY PANTS

Hello beautiful faces and places! excuse the hiatus, if you follow me on facebook or twitter you would know that the Bloggers Night Out team and I held two events last week in conjunction with Bloomingdale’s for the holiday season. You can find more details on our website, but I will reveal it was fabulous, luxurious, and a whirlwind as I flew to and from Boston all within eleven hours for the event.

For those looking forward to the holiday season, Happy Christmas! I am blessed beyond belief and wish nothing but the same for you. These pants just added such a happiness all over my body when I spotted them. I had a massive rush of excitement and even jumped up and down in the store. I had a Christmas party to attend that night, so naturally, these were worn. Epic find. Sequins equal-out-to-be an instant mood lifter so I highly suggest in purchasing something a little sequin-esq this season, it just makes everything perfect. Happy Christmas all.

I GOT A LOVE THAT KEEPS ME WAITING

This dress is possibly one of my favorite vintage pieces handed down from my Gran, to my Mum, and now to me – it has so much history – and thats really what I love about vintage fashion. The story. This dress has hundreds of stories I am certain, but one that I will share with you, is that this dress is my Papa’s favorite. He loved it on my Gran, loved it on my mum, and recently told me that he loved it on me, and that just makes my heart melt.

This dress is really odd, it is pure velvet heaven and the hem is pleated. Under the bust it is rouched to the left side, and the pattern of pinks, reds, and maroons alone should be enough to tell you that there is a lot going on here – yet it is all seems works so perfectly harmoniously together. With this dress I am not wearing any gems or jewels, the dress is its own statement piece. However the lipstick that everyone keeps asking me about is MAC Cosmetics – Film Noir.

also, if you haven’t yet, please check out my re-design for the Bloggers Night Out website – we are hosting two events for the holiday season in partner with Bloomingdales!!!! eek!! Details to follow soon!!

GLITTER BOMB

I seem to be living a lot of my days on the fly. It isn’t a bad thing, for I am a pretty impulsive person in general – but these days I have been booking flights on a whim and my recent flight purchase will allow me to be in a certain state for exactly 12 hours. During the night. I am fortunate enough to work in an environment where the guys I work with understand and support my blog. If something comes up – an opportunity or an event – my boss always understands, and for that – I am grateful. I feel it is important to always give thanks – especially in this whirl-wind I call my life.

The girls and I over at Bloggers Night Out have some amazing news coming your way, so please stay tuned for that. We have been working long man hours trying to prepare all sorts of things for you. So definitely stay tuned for that!

This outfit is possibly one of my favorites. It is 100% vintage / thrifted … well from the ankles up anyway. The mink muff was my Grandmothers, the cashmere cream sweater was from my favorite little vintage shoppe [that has since closed], the shirt – this is a funny story – my friend Dee had a shirt with this exact pattern, she thrifted it somewhere and I wanted it so badly I wished for it before I went into a Value Village one Saturday – and although it is slightly different, this shirt fed my craving! I was so excited I was beaming to everyone [who thought I was crazy], that my chances of finding this shirt were so slim! The sequin razor back dress worn as a skirt, is actually, a dress. This is one of my most prized possessions in my vintage collection. It also happens to be my only favorite piece not once owned by my Gran. I got this dress for a helluva deal at a rummage sale  - I took it in to get it appraised,  I definitely got a deal haha. I will show the entire dress in a post in the future I am sure.
