OR by ANGELA CHEN

It shouldn’t come as a shock to you that I work in the design world … not the fashion side – but the advertising side … again, not that working here has really helped me in my fashion excursions, for I find myself working with a bunch of clients focusing on sporting goods [far from fashion forward].
However, after being chosen as one of the top fashion bloggers in Canada, somehow, I have ended up on the PR girl’s wish list and have been invited to several LG Fashion Week events. [For my Americans, LG Fashion week is the Toronto version of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week].

I have been very fortunate to of been invited to multiple shows the last two years, but this year with my birthday [eek! tomorrow] I have had a lot on my plate forcing me not to have  the chance to attend … however, I am – without a doubt – trekking myself to heritage square to visit Angela Chen [below], the designer behind these amazing pieces. All of these photo’s were sent to me from her PR girl Jakki over at Lotus Leaf ; of course I couldn’t help but jazz them up a bit and BAM! here are a few [sneak peek] looks from her A/W 11 collection.

beauty. pretty much just stunning. [yes that is angela].

Angela is receiving a ton of buzz in the blogeshphere, and it is my honor to celebrate my birthday watching her amazing pieces of art strut the runway ; call time is 2PM, check back for live tweets. love.

[ please note all photo's were sent to me by Jakki. I did not take these photos, I did however edit & design the graphics for photos 2,3 & 4 - photo 1 came designed - any use of these edited photos are stricktly prohibited unless granted permission by me ]

TELL HIM

but if I lack love then I am nothin’ at all ….
It is no lie that a ton of my posts are based around Lauryn Hill lyrics ; there is just something about that girl – the way she writes, the way she performs – she captivates an audience unlike any other.

This weekend was not particularly interesting – Friday night the boyfriend took me to this little place called Safari by his parents house for a late supper, it had some amazing food, and an even better wine selection. I ate a mixed green salad and drank away, later we found ourselves at an upscale pool hall [which happened to be located in Safari's basement!] A couple of chats here and there lead to a free pool sesh [which I also won], and us heading back home to hang out and watch a film.

These photo’s were taken on Saturday at the golf green [even further north] than where my ma lives. My good friend Nina is a wedding coordinator at this course – it is stunning in the summer, but during its winter and abandoned months – there is something eerily beautiful about the place … Nina promised I get to shoot here in the summer months ; so I look forward to those shots!

If you noticed, I am also using the new fish eye lens I purchased in NYC. EPIC FAIL! Sigh … the clarity is horrible … and the distortion useless. Maybe if I used my 50MM? Sigh … trial and error ; right?

DON’T FORGET ME

I will listen to Adele’s new album every day until the day I die. honestly. It is amazing.

My last post just highlights one thing ; a lot of who you are comes from where you’re from. never forget your past & the people { good & bad } who shaped where you are today.
These people include your family, friends, boyfriend, co-workers, mentors, frenimies, and enemies. honestly. They have had an effect on you, and its time we embrace it and take whatever it is we learned and apply it to life. This also [er, may or may not] apply to the clothing I am wearing.

So before you get on me about the skirt, it [once again] belonged to my Gran, who gave it to me a year ago – this is her baby. Purchased in Paris when visiting – the hand jewelled beauty is made of wool and is perfect for a stormy cold day. I just happen to be wearing it while the snow is finally melting.

This Alfred Sung top is also vintage, found at the best vintage shoppe one is to ever find [that closed down without warning] – this could possibly be the first vintage piece I ever bought – and its hideous. I have owned it for over 6 years and never had a chance to wear it because it is so unflattering – the “tie” you see – is a semi-quick-fix to a drapery of fabric that is cut wrong for the shirt originally – I just liked the way it felt at the time I  guess …

FOR JAPAN WITH LOVE

I am not one to promote anything on this blog, really. But I am urging you, we are in a place to give, that is WHY we are on this earth – I am sitting here telling you we are in a far better situation and can only IMAGINE if this happened to us, we would need love from every continent on our amazing earth.

Here’s the deal, head over to shelterbox and donate whatever you can – they will send a complete box full of supplies and an emergency kit to survive the next couple of days!

I am not going to tell you people are dying – you know that. I am going to tell you people are LIVING – life, breathing and fighting through it, because of donations, bloggers are uniting and taking a vow of silence on Friday March 18th, and I, along with some amazing people – am standing up for something truly devastating by taking away something that I do, daily … blog, tweet, facebook.

If you wish to join in, please visit Japan with Love or contact the amazing Lydia from Ever Ours with any questions.

BARRACUDA

so this ain’t the end – I saw you again today
had to turn my heart away
you smiled like the Sun – kisses for everyone
and tales – it never fails!

I have said it once, and I will say it again. One of these days I am going to get arrested. AGAIN I broke onto someone’s property and found abandoned crates & an old house … meh … nothing beats the texture of the things we find decaying! This past weekend was PACKED full of stuff, but I will keep it short and simple, and just let the photo’s speak for themselves!
