I had an entirely different outfit planned for this post, in fact – I had an entirely different country as the background OF my post! As most of you know, I was jet-set and off to Jamaica last week for my mama’s birthday and just a little breather from the every-day-whirlwind. Once landed back in Toronto – I soon sunk into my bed and had a blissful sleep whilst having the window cracked and the autumn air surrounding me. Jamaica was wonderful, but Toronto in October is my favorite – I just wished I hadn’t missed all of the colourful leaves while away, but alas – I found some autumn light, and while the weather outside is [yet to be] frightful – I thought I would share this post first. The mixing of-the-ever-evolving-patterns – well this is the busiest yet neutral outfit I think I have ever posted – sort of an oxymoron if you will. I love it because, like I said, the surroundings just enhanced the colour and the over all feel. This could be my own personal favorite.

In any case, I had someone ask – I do indeed live right in the heart of the city of Toronto – but I venture up north every weekend to spend time with my family and friends. My posts are 99.2% of the time shot up north because I firmly believe photography is almost, if not more, important than the actual style of a fashion blogger like myself. I try to match my surroundings to my outfit [not the other way around] so when I get dressed, I have to rack my brain on where to shoot that would complement my outfit. [ me trying to explain blogger logic ... fail! ]

In other news, bloggers seem to be going through a bit of a rut all over the place. I can’t tell you how many blogs I have followed who have disappeared or vanished – thankfully Christina of Profresh Style has written an open forum summing up her feelings towards her own blog and how she is planning to whip herself back into being Profresh! If you are a blogger you should read it – it is so important to remind yourself to keep grounded and not be swayed by brands and influencers, and to also seek refuge in the blogging community, lets all be friends and bitch to one another.

[GUEST POST] THE GIRL WITH THE MESSY HAIR

Hello dahlings, I am off to sunny side Jamaica with my mum for the week and KD from The Girl with the Messy Hair – or [TGWTMH] is guest blogging for me whilst I am gone! KD is a doll and has great-amazingly-romantically-hippy style and I know you all will love her as much as I do. KD and I met via the world wide web when we were both featured as two of the top Canadian Fashion Bloggers, alas – we have become great friends. Now without further ado.

I feel like I should say something like a speech when you’ve won an award after Kendall’s amazing introduction of who I am but that would be saved when we actually get a trophy for being chosen as TOP 15 CANADIAN BLOGGERS…as if that would ever happen. Nonetheless, thank you for the sweet words, K~

Moving along, I’m here to represent the west side cos as what you lovelies have noticed, little miss Kendall Donaldson here and I almost have the same style. These photos although weren’t taken in Calgary were actually taken by my good ol’ reliable tripod while I was on a vacation alone in (still the west side) BC. Obviously, it is still warm in BC even at the end of September and I was able to wear my favorite easy breezy palazzo electric blue pants together with this new but old cape I scored at a thrift store on a early morn shopping trip to the Farmers Market. This amazing tassled necklace is the only fab find I took home but couldn’t be happier about it! It was made from recycled t-shirts by a local designer in Vernon named Shelagh of 2nd Chance and it was a total treat for only $20.

I am now back to freezing Calgary and your warm thoughts about my blog THE GIRL WITH THE MESSY HAIR are always welcome! I am also on FACEBOOK and TWITTER. See you soon, lovelies~

CORN BABY

This post was fun to shoot, although rather time consuming due to the fact that I was suppose to be at my boyfriend’s parents place for dinner during this shoot … lol … priorities. This past weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canadaland, and like the rest of North America, we were blessed beyond belief with incredible weather. Although I am in light cotton trousers here, I sported daisy dukes every moment here after for I was so overwhelmed by the heat [horrible for someone just getting over the cold], I found myself spending my days casually catting with family and friends, and tossed in the odd nap here and there. Sunday my amazing family and I celebrated my mum’s birthday!! I wont say how old she is, she would kill me [HI MOM!] but we are continuing the celebrations this weekend as we are sneaking off to Jamaica for one week. During that week expect to see a guest post by KD from The Girl with the Messy Hair - a fellow Canadian and a girl who’s closet I would ravage in a heart beat and a love child I know you guys will adore.

Quick update. I am sick with the cold, and these shots were taken by le boyfriend { thanks boyfriend } before the sinus-infectious-mucus-cold I am not infected with. which I hate. I would kill it, if I could, but I can’t. The well wishes from twitter & fb have made me feel better, my bitter complaints have lost me a few followers but I am optimistic lol. I have a ton of stuff coming up – an amazing collaboration with a brand that I am in love with – but more importantly let me just mention the bag I am currently obsessed with –  the above Lynx {faux} fur bag!! I die. SAS Handbags are based out of Montreal – {YAY Canada!}, and I was tickled when this baby arrived {next day} on my desk at work. I cannot part with it – ever! It is so magical, I get stopped at least three times a day – it adds such texture to my already {usually} busy outfits. lala love, needed to share it with you all.

p.s I am doing a lot of blogger’s night out stuff right now, but I am also in the process of re-designing my website … so as you will see … this blog is going to go through some changes … so stay tuned!!
