I GOT A LOVE THAT KEEPS ME WAITING

This dress is possibly one of my favorite vintage pieces handed down from my Gran, to my Mum, and now to me – it has so much history – and thats really what I love about vintage fashion. The story. This dress has hundreds of stories I am certain, but one that I will share with you, is that this dress is my Papa’s favorite. He loved it on my Gran, loved it on my mum, and recently told me that he loved it on me, and that just makes my heart melt.

This dress is really odd, it is pure velvet heaven and the hem is pleated. Under the bust it is rouched to the left side, and the pattern of pinks, reds, and maroons alone should be enough to tell you that there is a lot going on here – yet it is all seems works so perfectly harmoniously together. With this dress I am not wearing any gems or jewels, the dress is its own statement piece. However the lipstick that everyone keeps asking me about is MAC Cosmetics – Film Noir.

also, if you haven’t yet, please check out my re-design for the Bloggers Night Out website – we are hosting two events for the holiday season in partner with Bloomingdales!!!! eek!! Details to follow soon!!

GLITTER BOMB

I seem to be living a lot of my days on the fly. It isn’t a bad thing, for I am a pretty impulsive person in general – but these days I have been booking flights on a whim and my recent flight purchase will allow me to be in a certain state for exactly 12 hours. During the night. I am fortunate enough to work in an environment where the guys I work with understand and support my blog. If something comes up – an opportunity or an event – my boss always understands, and for that – I am grateful. I feel it is important to always give thanks – especially in this whirl-wind I call my life.

The girls and I over at Bloggers Night Out have some amazing news coming your way, so please stay tuned for that. We have been working long man hours trying to prepare all sorts of things for you. So definitely stay tuned for that!

This outfit is possibly one of my favorites. It is 100% vintage / thrifted … well from the ankles up anyway. The mink muff was my Grandmothers, the cashmere cream sweater was from my favorite little vintage shoppe [that has since closed], the shirt – this is a funny story – my friend Dee had a shirt with this exact pattern, she thrifted it somewhere and I wanted it so badly I wished for it before I went into a Value Village one Saturday – and although it is slightly different, this shirt fed my craving! I was so excited I was beaming to everyone [who thought I was crazy], that my chances of finding this shirt were so slim! The sequin razor back dress worn as a skirt, is actually, a dress. This is one of my most prized possessions in my vintage collection. It also happens to be my only favorite piece not once owned by my Gran. I got this dress for a helluva deal at a rummage sale  - I took it in to get it appraised,  I definitely got a deal haha. I will show the entire dress in a post in the future I am sure.

MINE IS YOURS

Did I ever tell you that I have been the same height since the eighth grade? – seriously. Actually once upon-a-time I was considered tall [a mere 5"zip]. I was always the girl beaming brightly in school class photos – standing in the back, in the middle – and like a pyramid those around me cascaded downwards … until high school … when everyone else started to grow, and I had reached 5″zip. I had to adjust to things, my big personality from a pint-sized [egotistical] miner-niner allowed me to be a social queen in school – it also meant that I had a bagillion items of clothing once I reached grade twelve – because even then – I was 5″zip.

I still wear the same clothes from grade nine from time-to-time, but these days I much prefer things with a different colour of history – I have been stealing my mom’s clothes – a lot lately. In fact – she began to physically notice. No longer were things borrowed, I may of [accidentally...intentionally] stolen something from her. Oops. See the gold link bracelet above? yah? I got an email this week “Dear Daughter, next time you want to steal a solid piece of gold from my jewelry collection, be so kind as to tell me before I see it on instagram”. Again. Oops.

In all fairness, two items in the above outfit are mine. Kind of.

I should point out though, that a) I am wearing jeans [kill me now! if you read my blog - you'd know I loathe them] and b) they were my mothers classic skinny zip Levis … that she wore … after her pregnancy with me. [HI MOM!]

FIRST FROST

Oh. Hello Gorgeous! The weather here in Toronto, as you can see from this post – has been beautiful. There is a chill in the air, but it is nothing short of a crisp breath-of-fresh-air. I fell in love with this cozy knit sweater as soon as I stumbled upon it at the LF Store on 5th Ave in NYC, the sales girl convinced me to buy it – who am I to fight her off? Whilst in NYC I only got out once – and it was my  second last day. I was pulling my hair out from being so busy – I needed a little “me” time and took to the streets with my camera and wallet. I did all my damage at LF. I didn’t even bother going anywhere else. The tuxedo back of this white knit is my ultimate favorite feature – I have been searching for the perfect knit and gasped when I found it. Definitely a new added staple. Welcome home sweater.

These days though, I have been channeling my inner nerd – work is beyond insane, BNO is fabulously insane, and my Tortuous and Blonde glasses happened to arrive just-in-time to perfect, the very [insane] nerd-esq look. – I couldn’t help but mix textures in this outfit though, the massive [8ft] angora scarf, the polka-dot razor back, the ultimate teal JBrand coated pants and the velvety hunter wedges tops it all off. AH, alas – this is such a Sunday staple for me, even on a Sunday, heels are on my feet.

Other than the above rambles – there isn’t much of an update on my end, work, design, work, rudiger, wine! I hope you all enjoy this upcoming weekend and get some much needed me time in, and don’t forget to snuggle your little Rudiger!
